Foltz Award Scholarship Application

    Each year, the Thomas More University Music Program awards competitive music scholarships known as Foltz Awards. Qualified singers and instrumentalists will be awarded additional funding up to $4,000 per academic year based upon competitive auditions. This year's Foltz Award Scholarship weekend will be held digitally. 

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Earn admission to Thomas More University before submitting an audition.
    • Submit the scholarship application form below with the appropriate links for your audition and personal videos. See below for additional details.
    • Display musicianship and proficiency in your voice or instrument.
    • Intend to enroll in Marching Band, Concert BandConcert Choir, Women's Chorus, Chamber Choir, or Gospel Choir upon entering the university as per department-specific guidelines. 
    Priority application deadline is March 1. 

    AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

    For Singers (2 videos): Submit a video recording of two contrasting art songs, arias, or folk songs of your choice. Submissions should ideally be accompanied by piano or pre-recorded accompaniment, but acapella submissions will be accepted. Students are encouraged, but not required, to choose one piece in a foreign language. Memorization is encouraged, but not required. 

    For Instrumentalists/Pianists (2 videos): Submit a video recording of one lyrical etude and one technical etude. You may also submit an excerpt from a solo. The solo excerpt is optional. For pianists, submit a video recording of two contrasting pieces of 5 minutes or longer. 

    For All Applicants (1 video): In addition to your audition recordings, submit a video of 3-5 minutes that tells us about YOU. 
    • Make sure to talk about both your musical and non-musical side. 
    • How long have you sung or played your instrument? Do you play other instruments? 
    • Talk about one accomplishment that you are proud of (musical, community service, sports, project, goal, etc.)
